A Haven Of Safety

Vishwa Vidyapeeth believes that safety of students, staff and visitors at campus should be of prime importance. Hence we have set up our Internal Safety Audit as given below:

Entry And Exit

  • There is a highly trained professional security management team in place at each campus. Guards man the gates round the clock, monitoring the entry and exit of students, staff and visitors.

  • Visitors are issued the ‘Visitor’s Pass’ before being allowed to enter the school premises. Unauthorised entry into the bounded campus is not allowed at any point of time.

  • Strict protocols are followed for Teachers, Support staff and domestic in-house staff.

  • Visitors without prior appointment are denied entry unless it is a medical emergency and in consultation with the seniors.

  • Gate Pass is provided for any child leaving early, after informing the Coordinators, class teacher and the school office. If parents cannot come, then a letter of authorisation for the same in the form of mail/sms is needed by the school and it is mandatory for all.

CCTV Camera

  • There are CCTV Cameras installed in each and every entry and exit points, corridors, stair cases, boundary wall entry points of toilets and play fields within the school premises which can be accessed even by all seniors on their devices.

  • Strategically located CCTV’s enable the school to keep a keen eye on students’ safety; these are monitored regularly by the administration personnel during school hours.

Infirmary

  • We have a well-equipped infirmary in each of our schools, where we have provision for first aid. A qualified Nurse and on-call Doctors are available for each campus.

  • In case of any medical attention required by the students, the school informs the parents and during an emergency the students are taken to the nearby Hospital, after consulting the parents.

  • When a student is taken home by the parents in case of illness, a gate pass is provided to them by the school office for the gatekeeper i.e. the security guard without which the child cannot leave campus.

Student Safety

  • Students are required to wear the ‘Identity Card’ issued by the school to ensure ready identification in case of need as well as quick provision of information about the child’s parents/ guardians, if needed.

  • Teachers are also required to wear Identity Cards issued by the school.

  • Strict norms are followed during recruitments and the records are maintained for investigation by authorities at any point.

  • Students are accompanied by a female attendant at all times in case there is a male coach taking classes for any sport.

  • The school also deploys female security guards for added vigilance.

  • Teachers are allocated duties, by turns, around the different areas in school during the children’s snack time to be able to ensure children’s safety on the school’s grounds during this free play time.

  • No child is allowed to be in the classroom during break timeunless they have a medical problem, in which case they are accompanied by one teacher in the classroom.

  • Teachers are on duty during lunch break time to ensure safety and security of all children.

  • Our school has an anti-sexual harassment committee and child protection cell to deal with matters related to POCSO and any kind of safety concern.

  • Details of the parents, students and their family issues are kept strictly confidential.

  • Students are being made aware frequently about good and bad touch, safe online habits and precautions to be observed while using social media (by showing them educational movies and talk related to these issues).

  • Classrooms are checked by the class teacher who has the last period with them.

Washrooms

  • Children of classes pre-primary are escorted by the female staff to use the washroom.

  • Dedicated female attendants are present for junior & seniors school washroom.

  • All toilets which are used by the students are cleaned by female support staff

  • The school premises are also fumigated fortnightly .

  • Cleanliness is a mind set and we strictly imbibe this at VVP. After all, Cleanliness is the hallmark of perfect standards!

Infrastructure

  • The School has spacious classrooms for all students along with sports fields and other basic amenities.

  • Fire extinguishers are installed in all corridors and all laboratories.

  • Safe drinking water is provided to our students and staff.

  • Proper disposal of waste is ensured to provide a clean environment for our students.

Dispersal Time

  • Students are dispersed from the buses/classrooms only after verifying that the person receiving the child is the parent/guardian as informed to the school. In case the parent fails to turn up, the child is safely kept back/brought back to the campus. At least one lady teacher/staff will be always present at school till the time all children have safely left school premises.

  • Teachers are on duty at dispersal time and students are escorted to their buses by their bus attendants.

  • Walkers and private vehicle children are also escorted by the teacher on duty

Parent Cooperation

We seek parent’s cooperation with regard to following points:

  • Photograph of parents is mandatory in the school diary and on the School app for verification purposes especially when the parents pick their ward from school.

  • If parents are unable to pick up their ward, then they are requested to send authorization letter with ID proof of the person who will come to pick their ward from school. Prior permission needs to be taken from seniors for the child to travel back with the guardian.

  • Parents are advised not to encourage their wards to go to their friends or relatives house while returning by bus from school to ensure that child reaches home safely.

  • Students must wear their ID card every day.

  • Parents are requested to encourage carpooling, especially when visiting school for events like PTM, Annual day etc.

  • Parents are requested not to park their vehicles in front of the main gate to avoid traffic jams. They are also requested to be polite to the security guards and support staff since they are doing their duties as assigned by the school.

  • Vishwa Vidyapeeth follows a zero tolerance policy when it comes to a students’ safety and security in the premises and each and every member of the faculty ensures this but even though, as known with children, they can be prone to accidents for no fault of anyone: God forbid in such cases we expect the parents to be patient and understanding and at no point of time are they permitted to hurl abuses at any member of the school or misbehave with anyone but calmly and amicably deal with such a situation; if found otherwise as experienced a zillion times before, your wards’ name will be struck off the school rolls.

Social And Emotional Safety

It is quite important to ensure that we cater to the social and emotional safety aspects of the child while at school for various reasons:

  • This helps them to perform better at the emotional tasks like developing trust in others, achieve a sense of competence and self-esteem

  • They will turn out better with their educational performance, career growth as well as societal interaction

  • We can be the consistent source of resilience in the child by providing them safety zones

  • School ensures to keep parents updated about any changes in the safety procedures being followed

  • Right from pre-primary to higher classes, children are taught about age appropriate manners like Good touch and bad touch, basic safety protocols to follow and so on during circle time, assembly and regular classes

  • Parents of pre-primary and teenage students are given professional workshops on how to handle the queries best with regard to bringing up children in the transition phases.

  • Counsellors at school take special care of children especially when they are in the transition phases to ensure that they get the same love and care as imparted at home by their near ones. Their timely counselling can help children to have a positive outlook towards life. It helps us to bring out the uniqueness of each and every child to help us build their self-esteem even better.

Disaster Management

  • A programme for ‘Disaster Management’ has been put into place by the school for immediate response to disasters in the form of fires, earthquakes etc. with technical support and guidance from the concerned authorities.

  • Disaster management drills for earthquake and fire are conducted to train students for an emergency evacuation (school has put the plan of emergency exit on each floor).

  • Regular evacuation drills ensure that the systems in place for ‘rapid response to disaster’ are tested and streamlined to ensure fast evacuation in case of need.
