Life Skills

Summing up your success

In today’s ever demanding global situation where knowledge and career skills have to become secondary elements of education, functional skills are skills that are of utmost importance for day to day living. Although all kids graduate from high school knowing how to read, write and do basic maths, it is important to be a self-sufficient adult as well.

Advanced skills in academic areas alone aren’t going to help a young adult out of every jam he is likely to face in the next few years. Most of those predicaments probably will have nothing to do with the usual curriculum. At Vishwa Vidyapeeth, we teach many of these skills, either directly or woven into other academic subjects, recognizing the importance of Cultural activities for students This inclusive approach aims to equip students not only with intellectual prowess but also with the practical, social, and cultural skills necessary for a well-rounded and resilient adulthood.

Learning takes place in the most non – conventional way. Children are given the opportunity to think critically and resolve problems on their own.

The Life Skill activities at our School offer personal development that equips students with skills, values and attitudes to face the challenges and demands of everyday life.

Aptitude Based Competitions

The School regularly conducts aptitude based competitions such as word building, drawing, painting, theatre, singing, poetry writing, art, debates, quiz, elocutions (in English, Hindi and Kannada), storytelling, vegetable painting etc. These activities are conducted by professionals and we hope to get a sustained growth and result at the end of the day. Selecting from a wide range of activities below, we have already initiated, the following activities form an integral part of our curriculum:

Aquila

The Eagle in Latin is representation of victory and spiritual quest. Eagle, the ruler of the skies is fast and focused and teaches us to conserve our energies and sue it wisely for the greater good.

Cygnus

The Swan in Latinized Greek is a symbol of Grace, Balance and Commitment. Its wisdom is a representation of self-esteem, understanding and a futuristic vision.

Delphinus

Latin for Dolphin is considered to be highly intelligent and a symbol of peace and harmony. They epitomize inner strength and co-operation.

Pegasus

The winged white Horse in Greek Mythology symbolizes stability and an aspiration to reach greater accomplishments. It shows how a sound body and mind in harmony can achieve the unthinkable.

Vishwa Vidyapeeth hosts different interschool competitions which includes ‘Kaleidoscope’ (Interschool Art & Craft Mela), ‘Ecoventure’ (Interschool debate on ecological issues), ‘Nutcrackers’ (Interschool Preprimary competition) and ‘Boulderdash’ (Interschool Language festival). These types of inter-school competitions will help to build a sense of confidence and bonding amongst the students for their Alma Mater leading to overall development of a student. Competition not only enhances the spirit of staying ahead amongst students but also helps to hone their socialization skills. It will help them get a fair idea about where they stand in such events which in turn will encourage them to beat it to the top.

Workshops and Seminars are excellent vehicles for collective problem solving, developing new directions and strategies and supporting the team development process. Keeping this in mind, various Educational Workshops are conducted for children.

There is a rush to reach to the pinnacle and in today’s rapidly changing world it is important to stay ahead of your competitors rather than denying its existence. Therefore we make sure that our students get their fair share of participation in various competitions. We want to ensure that they appreciate the spirit of contest, begin to love the anxious feeling before the start of any competition and mull over to put their huge talents up for all to see and acknowledge. This wonderful learning process prepares them to face the real world.

The school newsletter is released every three months and presents an exciting, interesting and involving view of event fest at the school. The newsletter named “Iridescent – A play of Lustrous colours like those of a rainbow” is brought out to endorse the creative talents of the students and provide them recognition for their expression of original thoughts. We highlight the laurels and distinctions attained by your children and also use it as a connection between the Parent and the School to help develop and foster our everlasting bond.
