There are many reasons for learning Sanskrit. Teachers are getting educated about this age-old language because a sound knowledge of the language will not only provide proficiency of an additional language but also tools necessary to examine claims about Indian Intellectual history and arrive at our own conclusions. Teaching Sanskrit would lead us to expose students to the richness of the scientific, philosophical and practical knowledge of India’s past history and civilisation. Vishwa Vidyapeeth also believes in the same ideology and wants to keep the legacy alive by conducting classes for teachers. Hence every alternative Friday and Saturday, a learning environment is created by the Sanskrit department that holds interesting, fun-filled and enlightening sessions that empowers teachers at the end of every class with little knowledge every time about the language. A myriad of knowledge and treasured wisdom of Sanskrit is taught in a designed manner. A proper syllabus along with the books is shared. We are all excited to gain more and more hold over this fine language so that one day we can proudly converse in one of the most well-structured and concise languages in the world. Eventually, we can all come to the common realisation that Sanskrit is not only grammatically beautiful but also an ideal gateway to learning any other Indian or Indo-European languages.
