Literature-Based Activities

Public Speaking Events: Helps students build confidence and express themselves clearly on a range of engaging topics. They develop essential communication skills including voice modulation, body language, and eye contact, which prepare them for debates, presentations, and future leadership roles.

News Reading: Gives students an opportunity to act as news anchors, presenting current events while improving pronunciation, fluency, and public speaking skills. This activity also keeps them informed and enhances their ability to read aloud with clarity and confidence.

Elocution:Allows students to practice expressive speech through the recitation of poems, speeches, or literary passages. It strengthens their vocabulary, articulation, and emotional delivery, making it ideal for those who enjoy the art of spoken language.

Debate on Human Rights Issues: Encourages students to think critically, research thoroughly, and articulate their views on relevant social topics. Through structured arguments and respectful rebuttals, students enhance their reasoning, confidence, and public speaking skills.

Recitations & Storytelling

Poem Recitation Competitions: Give students a chance to memorize and perform poems with rhythm, tone, and expression. This activity not only enhances memory and fluency but also fosters a deeper appreciation for poetry and literature.

Poetry Recitation: Helps students develop expressive speaking abilities as they connect emotionally with the poems they recite. It improves fluency, pronunciation, and confidence while encouraging a love for creative language.

Storytelling Competitions: Allow students to craft and narrate original or traditional tales using voice modulation, gestures, and imagination. This activity boosts their vocabulary, creativity, and presentation skills while making public speaking fun and engaging.

Writing & Creative Expression

Slogan Writing: challenges students to communicate strong, meaningful messages using just a few impactful words. It sharpens their ability to think creatively and write concisely, making it perfect for awareness campaigns and poster themes.

Creative Writing and Digital Painting: combine language and visual arts, allowing students to write imaginative stories or poems and pair them with expressive digital artwork. This integrated activity nurtures creativity, self-expression, and storytelling abilities.

Poster Designing and Poster Making on the theme “Unity in Diversity” enables students to blend artistic skills with social awareness. By designing posters that promote harmony and inclusivity, they learn to communicate messages visually while appreciating cultural diversity

Peer Teaching

Peer Teaching allows students to learn from and with each other, making the learning process more interactive and relatable. It helps the “teacher” student reinforce their own understanding while developing communication, leadership, and empathy, and the “learner” student benefits from simpler explanations and a more comfortable learning environment. This method also promotes collaboration, boosts confidence, and encourages active participation, creating a supportive and engaging classroom community.

Spell Bee

At VVP, we believe in providing our students with opportunities to excel academically and develop essential language skills. The primary reason for organising the Spelling Bee Exam at our school is to enhance language skills and promote academic growth among our students.

Theatre (Role play)

“The stage lights dimmed as the student actors took their places, transporting the audience to different worlds and emotions with each spoken word and movement.” Students who have acquired theatrical skills enact different characters during role play in English sessions.

Reading Challenge

The CBSE Reading Challenge is an online test conducted for students to enhance their reading and comprehension skills. Students have to answer a series of questions designed to test their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.

Budding Authors programme

The CBSE Budding Authors Programme aims to provide students a platform to engage in reading different types of stories and learning to write effectively. As students write and submit short stories under this programme, they would have an opportunity to express their creativity and get a chance to see them published.

Expression Series

As part of competency-focused education, CBSE has introduced a range of topics under the Expression Series to help inculcate writing skills among students.

Dictionary Making

One of the best ways for students to understand how dictionaries work is to make one themselves. The event was organised as part of the school’s literary activities aimed at enhancing students’ research skills, boosting their vocabulary using their creativity and writing skills.

Declamation

The students of classes IX and X don the roles of various personalities and speak their famous lines in this activity. The students are assessed based on various rubrics like Choice of speech, Message delivered, Research, Memorization, and Delivery effectiveness.
